Blue Jackets Vs. Flames Final Score: Columbus Win 2-1 In Shootout

Stay connected for news and updates

The Columbus Blue Jackets ended their four game losing streak and played a bit of a spoiler role as well on Sunday as they faced the Calgary Flames.

Steve Mason made 28 saves to stymy the Flames offense as Calgary looked to continue their playoff push in recent weeks after a streak of wins. Nikita Nikitin scored for Columbus in the first period, while Matt Stajan kept it a draw with a goal in the third period. Neither team could come up with any other offense, which put it to extra time and then a shootout.

Rookie Cam Atkinson scored the only goal in the shootout after several missed attempts by both teams, which was enough to finally seal another Blue Jackets win and deal a blow to the Flames. They'll have to be happy with the point they earned but in the cluster of teams vying for that final couple of spots in the Western Conference it can't help their cause to have lost to the Jackets.
