The Columbus Blue Jackets will have the second selection in the 2012 NHL Draft. The Edmonton Oilers won the lottery and will select No. 1 overall for the third consecutive season.
Much like on the ice, the Columbus Blue Jackets lost out at the NHL Draft Lottery on Tuesday evening, losing the No. 1 overall pick to the Edmonton Oilers. The Oilers have had the No. 1 pick for three straight seasons.
Despite being the NHL's worst team this season, Columbus will select No. 2 overall.
Here's the draft order for the lottery squads following Tuesday's Draft Lottery:
1. Edmonton Oilers
2. Columbus Blue Jackets
11. Washington Capitals (from Colorado Avalanche)
12. Buffalo Sabres
13. Dallas Stars
14. Calgary Flames
