Ohio State Football Banned From Postseason Play In 2012, According To Report

After a very long investigation, the NCAA is set to announce its ruling on multiple infractions by the Ohio State Buckeyes football program. With an official announcement to come a little later on Tuesday, there's reports coming out regarding the ruling. One such report, from The Columbus Dispatch, states that Ohio State has been banned from postseason play in 2012.

The NCAA today stunned Ohio State University's football program by banning it from postseason play after the 2012 season, multiple sources told The Dispatch.

Which means Ohio State cannot play in any bowl games, Big Ten conference championships or the national championship in 2012. On top of that, the NCAA Committee of Infractions will add to penalties already imposed by OSU on itself, stripping them of four football scholarships over the next three years, where Ohio State had already forfeited five of them and adding another year of probation to OSU's self-imposed two-year probation for the football program.

The probation means the team and program, now led by head coach Urban Meyer, has to follow a very strict set of rules, and if they falter even a little bit, the penalties could be exceptionally harsh. Jim Tressel also is going to be labeled a serious offender and will have trouble finding a new job without serious complications in the future.
