The Ohio State Buckeyes suffered a coaching loss before he actually got a chance to get on the field. Bill Sheridan, a defensive coach under new head coach Urban Meyer, has taken a job with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers of the NFL. According to The Lantern, Sheridan will be the new defensive coordinator in Tampa Bay under new head coach, Greg Schiano.
Tampa Bay is assembling an entirely new coaching staff, after a seemingly talented roster has failed to produce over the last few seasons, with Raheem Morris out the door as head coach. Their new regime is bringing people in from all over, and Sheridan is the latest to join them. He was also the latest hire for the Buckeyes after Taver Johnson left to coach at Arkansas.
Sheridan had spent the last seven seasons coaching in the NFL, and it looks like he's not going to return to the college ranks any time soon, though nothing is official just yet. In the report, the Buckeyes neglected to comment on whether or not a hire had been made. Sheridan has been a defensive coordinator in the NFL before, but he was fired after one season.
