SB Nation Preseason All-Americans: Jake Stoneburner Among Top Receivers

In the latest installment of the SB Nation Preseason All-American Team lineup, Jason Kirk covers the pass-catchers and defensive backs that were voted on by a variety of SB Nation college football blogs this summer. Ohio State tight end Jake Stoneburner doesn't quite make the starting lineup, but the senior Buckeye does receive an honorable mention.

SB Nation's All-American receiving corps features USC's Robert Woods, Washington State's Marquess Wilson and Clemson's Sammy Watkins, all understandable choices after putting up huge numbers in 2011. Other than Stoneburner, Notre Dame's Tyler Eifert, West Virginia's Tavon Austin, Oklahoma's Kenny Stills and USC's Marqise Lee received HM's.

Stoneburner hasn't put up big numbers with the Buckeyes, but he has a strong reputation, especially as a red zone threat. Last season as a junior, he caught 14 passes for 193 yards and seven touchdowns. As a sophomore, he caught 21 passes for 222 yards and two touchdowns.

College Football Awards 2012: Ohio State's Jordan Hall A Preseason Doak Walker Candidate

Ohio State senior Jordan Hall was named a preseason candidate for the Doak Walker Award, given annually to the nation's top running back.

Hall, a four-star recruit coming out of high school, had 405 yards and two touchdowns on 99 carries last season. His workload could increase with the departure of Dan Herron, who now plays with the Cincinnati Bengals.

Hall is currently sidelined after having foot surgery in June. The initial timetable for his return was 10 weeks, which means he'll likely miss at least one game in September. Ohio State's first two contests are against Miami (Ohio) and Central Florida, so the team should be able to make due.

OSU spokesman Jerry Emig reported that Hall hurt his foot while walking in a patch of grass.

Trent Richardson of Alabama won the award last year.

College Football Awards 2012: Ohio St. Players Added To Lombardi, Butkus Watch Lists

The Ohio St. Buckeyes may not be able to reach the postseason this year, but they've still got a great roster that's looking to do as much damage as possible where it can. Multiple players have been added to multiple award watch lists, and there's a couple more to add to on Monday. The watch list for the Butkus Award came out, and there's one representative from Ohio State in Etienne Sabino.

The Butkus Award is given to the top linebackers in the nation who signify this trait on the field and also contribute to their community. It is voted on by a panel that includes many expert scouts. On top of this award, the Lombardi Watchlist came out on Monday as well, and there's even more representation from Ohio State there.

Defensive tackle Johnathan Hankins, defensive end John Simon and tight end Jake Stoneburner are all nominated for the Lombardi Award. It's an award traditionally given out to the top defensive or offensive linemen in college football. Stoneburner is on the list due to his time spent on the offensive line as a tight end.

You can find the full Lombardi Award watchlist here and the Butkus watch list here.

College Football Awards 2012: Ohio State's Johnathan Hankins Included In Nagurski, Outland Watch Lists

Already a popular name heading into the new college football season, Ohio State defensive tackle Johnathan Hankins was officially named to the Bronko Nagurski and Outland Trophy watch lists on Thursday along with some of the best defensive players in America.

Joining Hankins on the Nagurski preseason list is none other than his linemate, Buckeyes defensive end John Simon. Given to the best defensive player in college football annually, the Nagurski was last claimed by Ohio State in 2006 by linebacker James Laurinaitis. In addition, Hankins and Simon were each named to the Bednarik Trophy watch list earlier in the week, while star quarterback Braxton Miller was added to the Maxwell's list.

The sole Ohio State player in the mix for the Outland Trophy, awarded to the best offensive or defensive lineman in the sport, Hankins will try to follow in the footsteps of former winners Ndamukong Suh (Nebraska) and Glenn Dorsey (LSU) as a dominant interior presence on the line. Buckeye great Orlando Pace took home the award in convincing fashion back in 1996, and Hankins will be looking to give OSU its fifth Outland winner of all-time.
