Storm Klein Reinstated To Ohio State Football Team, According To Report

Ohio State linebacker Storm Klein, who had been dismissed from the team following a domestic violence arrest in July, has been reinstated to the team, according to Tim May of the Columbus Dispatch:

"As I had indicated previously, if there are any changes in the charges against Storm, I would re-evaluate his status," Meyer said in a statement released by the school. "The charges that would have violated our core values have been totally dismissed."

Klein originally had been accused of domestic violence – a breach of one of those core values – and assault for an incident at his apartment that occurred July 6 involving the mother of his child. Meyer immediately dismissed him from the team. But the alleged victim recanted her story in the past couple of weeks, and Klein on Wednesday pleaded guilty to a misdemeanor charge of disorderly conduct and was put on 18 months probation.

"I have spoken extensively to members of both families and that has prompted me to re-assess his situation and allow him back," Meyer said.

Klein's lawyer told the Dispatch that Klein "did not do what he was originally accused of doing." May noted that Klein will still face at least a two game suspension.

Luke Zimmerman of Land-Grant Holy Land had this reaction to the reinstatement:

Urban Meyer had been pretty clear from the very beginning that as long as the domestic violence charges didn't stick, Klein would have a strong chance for having his scholarship reinstated. Per his word, after 24 hours in which it wasn't entirely clear if Ohio State would want Klein back (who'd lost his job due to injury and mild ineffectiveness in the 2011 season), Klein is now back on an Ohio State team that was relatively shallow experience wise at the linebacker position.
