Ohio State vs. Michigan State score: Buckeyes still hold narrow 7-3 lead at halftime

Stay connected for news and updates

No. 14 Ohio St. is facing potentially their toughest test of the season yet in No. 20 Michigan State, but they're handling it well with a 7-3 lead at the half. It's closer than they'd like, of course, but they managing Le'Veon Bell on defense and that has the Spartans unable to gain any significant traction. Bell has just 24 yards off of eight carries, though he's pulled down six receptions for 44 yards as well.

Unfortunately for them, Michigan State is managing to contain quarterback Braxton Miller as well. He's still making plays out there, but he's been held back from making those explosive plays he's become known for under Urban Meyer. He's got 12 keepers for 65 yards and has been accurate through the air, with eight completions off of 11 attempts. One of those three incompletes was an interception, though.

The interception came at a poor time, too, as the Buckeyes were in Michigan St. territory at that point. Miller had either kept it or thrown for all eight plays on that drive, and Kurtis Drummond got his hands on one of the passes for the pick. Late in the first half, Michigan State had a punt blocked, but Miller fumbled on the second drive of the ensuing possession to give the ball right back. Conroy went on to miss a 42-yard field goal for the Spartans, keeping the score at 7-3.
