The struggles continue for the Cleveland Indians' pitching staff, as the Chicago White Sox put the finishing touches on a three-game sweep of the first-place Tribe with a 12-6 win on Sunday.

Cleveland entered Friday's series opener with eight wins over its previous ten games, but yielded a whopping 35 runs to Chicago hitters during the series. The final game of the three-game tilt played out much like the previous two, as the White Sox rushed out a quick 3-0 lead in the first inning to put the Tribe in a significant early hole.

Starter Ubaldo Jimenez, who picked up the loss to move to 5-4 on the season, yielded seven earned runs through just four innings in yet another completely ineffective start. Aside from a Johnny Damon three-run homer in the second inning to pull the game into a 3-3 tie, Cleveland hitters could not manage to move runners over despite recording 12 hits on the day.

Indians Vs. White Sox: Cleveland Looks To Close Series In Chicago On Winning Note

The Cleveland Indians will try to avoid a sweep on Sunday afternoon as they finish their weekend series against the Chicago White Sox. After dropping the first two games of the series, the AL Central leading Indians have the White Sox in clear focus in their rearview mirror, now just one and a half games behind in the standings.

The Indians will have to bounce back from a 14-7 loss on Saturday that saw starter Derek Lowe get knocked around early, giving up ten hits and eight runs in less than three innings. Cleveland will give the ball to Ubaldo Jimenez on Sunday to try to slow down the Chicago offense. Jimenez has won three of his last four starts and enters the game with a 5-3 record and a 5.02 ERA.

Right-hander Gavin Floyd will get the start for the White Sox. Unlike Jimenez, Floyd has struggled of late, taking the loss in his last two starts leaving him with a 3-5 record and 4.66 ERA for the season.

The game will be at U.S. Cellular Field at 2:10 p.m. ET.

Indians Vs. Twins: Indians Lose 14-7 As Both Teams Showcase Offenses

On a Saturday evening in Chicago, the Chicago White Sox decided that it was time for a shellacking. And then they proceeded to give the Minnesota Twins one to the tune of a 14-7 White Sox win.

The Twins watched as Paul Konerko went 4-for-4 and Alex Rios and Dayan Viciedo each added three hits to lead a White Sox lineup that accumulated 17 hits that led to their 14 runs. Viciedo had five RBI and a homerun and Rios homered as well.

It wasn't like the Twins didn't put up a fight on offense. Jason Kipnis went 2-for-4 with two two-run home runs, four RBI and two runs scored to lead the Twins. Michael Brantley went 1-for-4 with three RBI to help Kipnis in accounting for all of the Twins' runs.

As the Twins scored seven runs on Jake Peavy, the White Sox were going to work on Twins' starter Derek Lowe who gave up eight runs on 10 hits in 2 1/3 innings, including a five-run third inning.

Indians Vs. White Sox: Indians Try To Keep Up In High Scoring Game

The Cleveland Indians and Chicago White Sox are not being kind to the pitchers on the mound, even if they are Derek Lowe and Jake Peavy.

The White Sox put up four runs in the first inning off of Lowe on an RBI single by Paul Konerko, an RBI double by A.J. Pierzynski and a two-run single by Dayan Viciedo. The Indians answered in the top of the third inning on a three-run double by Michael Brantley that brought the Indians within one before Jason Kipnis' two-run homer to right-center gave the Indians a 5-4 lead.

The lead didn't last long as Konerko hit an RBI double to tie it at five before Alex Rios' RBI single and Viciedo's two-run homer gave the White Sox an 8-5 lead after three. Lowe lasted 2.1 innings, allowing eight runs on 10 hits.

And it is now only the bottom of the fourth inning. If runs being scored is what you live for, this is the game for you.

The Cleveland Indians are the walking wounded in Chicago this weekend, playing Saturday without Carlos Santana, Travis Hafner, and Asdrubal Cabrera. That leaves their lineup incredibly shorthanded and Derek Lowe scuffled through the first inning. But Lowe was picked up by his centerfielder Michael Brantley in the bottom of the first, when the speedy Brantley raced to the wall in center and brought back what would have been a three-run shot for Alex Rios. It was an incredible catch and Rios walked away cursing under his breath.

Lowe, however, continued his rocky start and spotted the Sox four runs in the first. The shorthanded Tribe responded with a five-run third inning to re-take the lead in a game with plenty of early fireworks.

Asdrubal Cabrera Injury: Indians Shortstop Day-To-Day With Tight Hamstring

Cleveland Indians shortstop Asdrubal Cabrera was pulled from Friday night's loss to the Chicago White Sox with what was originally deemed a precautionary move. After the game, skipper Manny Acta said that Cabrera could have continued to play if the game wasn't already out of hand, but he chose to take the safe route with his shortstop.

A day later, Cabrera's hamstring must have tightened up a little more because he's out of the line up on Saturday and, according to Acta before the game, Cabrera will be day-to-day with the injury:

After a breakout season a year ago, Cabrera is off to an even better start this season with a hitting line of .301/.395/.886 with five home runs and 20 RBI.

Carlos Santana Injury: Indians Catcher Might Be Headed To DL

Cleveland Indians starting catcher Carlos Santana was removed from Friday night's loss after a foul tip hit him in the mask. After the game, Tribe manager Manny Acta said that Santana could have continued to play if the game wasn't already out of hand and was replaced merely for precautionary reasons.

Santana's injury appears worse than initially believed, though, because he's not in the lineup on Saturday and catcher Luke Carlin has been activated.

Beat writer Jordan Bastian is assuming Santana is headed to the DL:

C Carlos Santana not on Indians lineup sheet. Could be 7-day concussion DL or 15-day DL. No official word yet from Indians.

This is obviously not good news for the Indians, who are currently up on the White Sox 2.5 games in the Central. Santana is not hitting as well as he did in his first two seasons, but he has five homers and his 24 RBI is tops on the team.

Indians Vs. White Sox: Cleveland Lineup Will Be Without Asdrubal Cabera, Carlos Santana On Saturday

If the Cleveland Indians are going to be able to rebound on Saturday against Jake Peavy and the Chicago White Sox, they'll have to do it without another two key components of their offense.

The Tribe -- already without Travis Hafner -- lost Asdrubal Cabrera and Carlos Santana during Friday night's loss and the two are not in the lineup on Saturday. Cabrera was removed from Friday night's game with a tight left hamstring; Santana was removed with head/neck stiffness after taking a foul tip off his mask. Both were said to have been removed on Friday as a precaution, but now that they are out of Saturday's lineup, it's reasonable to believe the injuries a little more serious than they were originally thought to be.
