Division I:
St. Edward's Eagles 42
Solon Comets 14
The Eagles may be able to take their bulky offensive line all the way to a state championship title. Thus far, few, if any teams in Ohio have proved to be a challenge for St. Ed's. The previously unbeaten Comets saw the game fly out of their hands early, going into the locker room down 35-0. The Eagles battle the Whitmer Panthers on Saturday for a spot in the state title match.
Division II:
Maple Heights Mustangs 48
Olmsted Falls Bull Dogs 16
The Bull Dogs Cinderella season came to an abrupt end as reality settled in at Olmsted Falls on Friday night. The Bull Dogs battled their way through the playoffs on grit, willpower, and sheer determination; but in the end were outmatched against the Mustangs.
Lake Catholic Cougars 35
Ashland Arrows 28
The Cougars were able to muster just enough offense to get past the arrows on Friday night with a narrow seven-point victory. The Cougars were able to control the time of possession in the second half and keep a surging Arrows offense on the sideline. Ashland came within a score, but Lake Catholic made the final stand; sealing the victory. The Cougars and the Mustangs square off next week in the Division II State Semi-Finals.
Division III:
Buchtel Griffins 35
Cardinal Mooney Cardinals 10
The now 10-3 Griffins had everything going for them in their playoff match up against Cardinal Mooney. The Cards had problems in the secondary on the opposing Griffin aerial attack, and their run defense wasn't much better. The Griffins proved to be overpowering as they poured on an excess of points late in the fourth quarter. They play Bishop Watterson for a spot in the Division III State Title heavyweight match.
