Dec. 2, 2010 was a date circled on the calendars of many Cavaliers' fans. It was the first time the Cavs were to face LeBron James at The Q since his departure for the Miami Heat this summer. The Heat were reeling a bit. There was in-fighting among players and coaches. What happened that night has sent both teams in different directions as they prepare for the rematch tonight in Miami.
The Heat won that night easily, 118-90, and haven't lost since. James and Co. have won nine straight. The Cavaliers have yet to win a game since that night, they've lost eight straight, four of those coming by 20 points or more. Needless to say, things are a lot different for the Cavaliers now than they have been in the recent past.
A win would make things seem better for the Cavaliers, even as the season drifts deeper into the abyss. Another lopsided defeat and who knows what tweets, letters or otherwise will come from Dan Gilbert. At 7-17, the Cavaliers need a spark. Can they find it in Miami?
