There But For Geography -- The Wacky NFC West

When the Giants suffered an historic implosion today, managing to have a 31-10 lead midway through the fourth quarter and to then surrender four touchdowns and lose — at home yet — to the Eagles, it may have been more than a lost game. It may also (depending on what happens next week against Green Bay) potentially keep the Giants out of the postseason.

Right now the Giants are 9-5.

Now consider the NFC West, where the FIRST PLACE teams after today’s play will be tied at 6-8. Some team in that division will gain a playoff spot, and there is a real chance that a 7-9 record will win the West…and that the Giants could, at 10-6, miss the playoffs.

Geography is a wonderful thing if you are the Seahawks or the Rams, yes? But if you are the Giants, it could be a nightmare.

Just an observation to assuage the disappointment of another Browns loss.
