Joe Smith Recalled From Columbus, Starter Still Needed By Friday

The Indians today called reliever Joe Smith back up from the Triple-A Columbus Clippers, where he was 2-1 with a 1.96 ERA out of the bullpen. Smith began the season with the Tribe, going 0-1 with a 7,71 ERA before being sent down.

Cleveland must still bring in a starter to fill the void in the rotation created by the demotion of David Huff, a void which will need to be filled on Friday against Cincinnati. Leading candidates to replace Huff are Aaron Laffey and Carlos Carrasco.
