Indians Close It Out, Win 5-3

Cincinnati, OH (Sports Network) – Shin-Soo Choo hit two home runs and Mitch Talbot was sharp through seven innings as Cleveland avoided a series sweep with a 5-3 win over Cincinnati to conclude their three-game interleague set.

Talbot (8-6) surrendered just a lone run on three hits while striking out five and walking three for the Tribe, who halted a seven-game slide and won for just a second time in their last 13 games. Kerry Wood struck out the side in order in the ninth to earn his sixth save of the season.

Bronson Arroyo (7-4) suffered the loss after giving up four runs on six hits over five frames while walking two and fanning three for the Reds, who had their five-game win streak snapped.

Joey Votto had two hits, including a two-run homer, for the Reds to extend his streak of reaching base to a big league-best 35 straight games.
