Indians Trade Russell Branyan To Mariners For Prospects, LaPorta Likely To Be Recalled

New, 2 comments

Russell Branyan has been traded, in what may be the beginning of this year's installment of what has become an annual fire sale.

Branyan returns to the Seattle Mariners in exchange for Triple-A outfielder Ezequiel Carrera and Single-A shortstop Juan Diaz, as well as for a player to be named, or for cash.

Matt LaPorta was called up to play first base for the Tribe as their series against the Cincinnati Reds concludes this afternoon at Great American Ballpark.

Branyan hit .263 for Cleveland this season, with 10 HRs (sharing the team lead with Shin-Soo Choo) and 24 RBI.
