Indians Set To Start Jeanmar Gomez Sunday After Bizarre Twitter Incident

The Cleveland Indians will start pitcher Jeanmar Gomez today against the Detroit Tigers, as the Tribe look for an improbable four-game sweep at home. Gomez is 6-8 with a 5.70 ERA in 18 starts with Columbus this season. With those type of statistics in Columbus why is Gomez getting the call instead of David Huff?

According to Anthony Castrovince of Indians.com, Huff was told Saturday that he would be starting Sunday. They told him to keep the news secret, but coincidentally, a mere 15 minutes after being told the news, Huff declared on his Twitter account that he would be promoted Sunday. Huff’s agent claims that it wasn’t Huff who made the post, but either way, Manny Acta didn’t care:

“At this time,” Acta said, “we feel it’s better for David to work on his delivery at Triple-A.”

Sounds like somebody is in the doghouse.
