Remember when DL Shaun Rogers of the Cleveland Browns was ridiculed for having a loaded gun in his luggage at Cleveland Hopkins Airport back in April? Rogers said he forgot about the gun, and is now facing a possible 1- to 2-game suspension from the league. Well, guess what? Rogers wasn’t the first Browns defensive lineman to do that.
↵According to reports, Browns DE Robaire Smith has been charged with the same crime — only his occurred last November at a different airport. The story gets better folks: Smith was with Rogers back in April.
↵Pro Football Talk speculates that perhaps there is a chance that Rogers took the hit for Smith having a gun in an airport for a second time, but I can’t imagine that being the truth. I’m sure the gun was registered to Rogers, and on top of that, he’d be pretty stupid to face legal issues for a fellow lineman.
