Indians Routed For Third Straight Game, Toronto Wins 8-1

Justin Masterson was lit up early tonight by the Toronto Blue Jays, and for the second night in a row a huge opponent’s inning spelled doom for the Indians, as the Tribe fell to the Blue Jays, 8-1, for the Indians 6th loss in seven games.

Shaun Marcum cruised to his 10th win of the season on the strength of a 6-run fourth inning, fueled by a Jose Bautista grand slam, for Toronto. Masterson (3-10) was stretched into the sixth inning by an Indians’ bullpen that needed some rest. Masterson allowed 13 hits and eight earned runs.

Justin Germano made his Indians debut and was impressive, striking out three in 2 2/3 innings of scoreless, one-hit ball.

The lone Tribe run scored in the fifth inning on a Matt LaPorta RBI.

The Indians will play the second game of this weekend series on Saturday afternoon.
