Masterson Bewitches Boston Again, Tribe Rolls 9-1

Boston, MA (Sports Network) – Andy Marte hit a three-run homer as part of a five-run seventh inning as Cleveland pounded Boston, 9-1, in the third installment of a four-game series at Fenway Park.

Jayson Nix added a solo homer and drove in two runs for the Indians, who have won four of their last five, including two of the first three games in this set.

Justin Masterson (4-10), facing his old club for the first time since he was dealt at the trade deadline last season, earned the win by scattering four hits and a run despite walking four over five-plus innings.

A David Ortiz solo homer was the lone offense for the Red Sox, who failed to capitalize on the momentum of Tuesday’s 3-1 victory.

Jon Lester (11-7) yielded seven hits and four runs — two earned - over five plus frames in defeat.
