Thome Homer Ends Great Pitching Duel In 12 Innings; Twins Prevail, 1-0

Jim Thome hit the 587th home run of his career in the 12th inning last night to give the Minnesota Twins a 1-0 victory that moved the Twins six games ahead of Chicago in the AL Central, as yet another brilliant pitching performance by Carlos Carrasco and the Indians went for naught.

Thome connected off of Justin Germano -- passing Frank Robinson for eighth place on the all-time list -- to win a game that was delayed for almost two hours in starting by weather as the Tribe played its second marathon of the week.
