The Indians wasted little time getting to last year’s American League Cy Young winner last night, knocking out Zack Greinke and scoring all of their runs in the first four innings and going on to defeat the Kansas City Royals 7-1, in the process moving into fourth place in the Central Division.
↵Jeanmar Gomez bounced back with a solid five innings and four relievers each pitched a hitless inning as the Tribe moved within one win of their total from last season.
↵Shin-Soo Choo led the offense with two RBI; four other Indians chipped in with one each, as the Tribe, after being held scoreless in the first two frames, struck for three runs in the third and four more in the fourth, dispatching Greinke after collecting eleven hits off of him.
↵Fausto Carmona goes today in an attempt to give the Indians a little cushion over the Royals entering the last week of the season.
