Not to belabor a point that I have made before, but still it is worth noting that the Indians have not had back-to-back seasons of less than 70 wins since the days of the Murderers’ Row Yankees in 1927-28, when the schedule was only 154 games.
↵A few days ago making it to 70 wins seemed an impossible task. On Friday morning the Indians needed to win eight of nine to reach the mark — suddenly, after a four-game winning streak, they need four of five, with two games remaining with the Tigers before the season ends with three in Chicago.
↵Can they do it? Can the Tribe win four more games and avoid a slice of dubious history which even their inept cousins of the 70s, 80s and early 90s were able to avoid?
↵I am pulling for them.
