Count me in the camp that would love to see this happen.
↵↵↵Free-agent infielder Jorge Cantu had been talking to the Houston Astros a lot about a job, according to the Atlanta Journal-Constitution, but those talks fell apart and now he says he’s in conversations with three other clubs: the Atlanta Braves, San Diego Padres, and Cleveland Indians.
↵Knock that down to two other clubs. The paper reports that Cantu is looking for an everyday job and the Braves can’t offer that since rookie Freddie Freeman will be at first and Chipper Jones or Martin Prado will be at third.
↵
Cantu isn’t going to set the world on fire, but with the Cleveland Indians infield the way it is now, all he needs to do is provide a spark.
↵The former Devil Ray, Red, Marlin and Ranger is a career .274 hitter and would be an incredible addition to an infield that was arguably one of the worst in baseball a year ago.
↵Cantu would compete with the recently-signed Jack Hannahan and perennial Yackety Sax blooper contender Jayson Nix for the starting 3B job.
