Gator Bowl 2012: Buckeyes Favored Against Punchless Gators

Much has been made about the 2012 Gator Bowl being the Urban Meyer Bowl. With the former Gators coach now headed to Columbus to take over the Ohio State program, the search for a main storyline does not take long. College Football news recognizes that this is about more than Meyer, however. The lackluster Florida offense is reason for concern for Florida:

Neither team can throw the forward pass. Florida is 102nd in the nation in total offense and it can’t stop turning the ball over. Ohio State is 116th in the nation in passing.

Braxton Miller's scrambling ability combined with Dan Herron and Carlos Hyde in the backfield provide the bulk of Ohio State's offense, giving the Gators a very difficult task. This will be an opportunity for Miller to work on his passing for the future. if Miller can develop as a consistent passer the Buckeyes will improve in a hurry, especially with Meyer already blowing up on the recruiting trail.
