The TaxSlayer Gator Bowl officially announced on Sunday that the Ohio State Buckeyes will meet the Florida Gators in the January 2nd bowl game played in Jacksonville, Florida.
The matchup was just too perfect to pass up with two tradition-rich programs, boasting rabid fan bases and oh, yeah, a coaching connection. Ohio State's new head coach Urban Meyer won't be coaching the bowl game but his presence will be felt as the Buckeyes take on the team he helped guide to two national championships.
The TaxSlayer Gator Bowl is played annually in EverBank Field in Jacksonville, Florida and typically pits the ACC and the Big East, but recently has taken on teams from the Big Ten and SEC. This matchup was certainly a no-brainer for the Gator bowl organizers.
The game will be broadcast on ESPN2 and streamed live on ESPN3. It will be called by Mike Patrick, Craig James, and Jeannine Edwards.
