Among the storylines as we head into the bowl season is the the Gator Bowl on January 2. It is there that the Ohio State Buckeyes will face the Florida Gators in what some are calling the Urban Meyer Bowl. The new coach of the Buckeyes won't be on the sidelines, but this game pits his new team against his old team. The Gator roster is made up of several players that Meyer recruited to Gainesville. it is also a rematch of the 2007 National Championship Game:
You may remember that the Gators won that game, 41-14, to claim their second national title. That game was the only meeting in the two teams' history, and so Florida is 1-0 and undefeated all-time against Ohio State.
In other bowl games involving Ohio teams, the Ohio Bobcats are headed out to Boise, Idaho to face Utah State in the Famous Idaho Potato Bowl:
The Idaho Potato Bowl is one of the only games which is played in guaranteed frigid temperatures. Most all other bowls are in a warmer climate and/or are in a dome. And if you're a Midwesterner who has ever made the trek to Idaho, you know the air is drier than Triscuits. Can't imagine how much worse it is in December.
The Toledo Rockets also gained a bowl bid with an invite to the Military Bowl to face Air Force on December 28 in Washington, DC.
