Finally, a little nugget from the good news department. The Cleveland Cavs, who desperately have needed help down low during their losing streak, will have Leon Powe suited up and ready for Friday night’s game, barring a setback.
↵Powe who has seemed anxious to return, had this to say about losing streaks:
↵↵↵“I know something about losing streaks. I had one in Boston,†said Powe, a member of a Celtics team that dropped 18 straight in 2006-07, the season before Kevin Garnett and Ray Allen arrived. “It’s tough when you can’t play. You just want the best for your teammates and team.â€
↵
Powe isn’t exactly going to set the world on fire, and for a guy with so many knee surgeries, you never know what to expect, but he should at least provide some depth at a position that is desperate for more minutes.
↵And from a bit of a cynical point of view, I’ve loved the commitment Powe has shown to the Cavs and the drive he’s had to come back from his injuries, but if he plays well, his expiring deal might be enticing for a team or two when the trade deadline comes around.
