Feb. 14 was the day that guys like Carlos Santana and Fausto Carmona made special note of on their calendars. It is the voluntary report day for pitchers around the league. Catchers and injured players will also report. For Indians rising star Carlos Santana, he fits into both those categories.
According to Yahoo!, Santana was given clearance by doctor Rick Parker to begin batting practice sessions and catch bullpens with teammates. This is good news for Tribe fans as Santana prepares himself for his first full major league season. The Indians will need both his bat and his glove to rebound from last season's 93-loss campaign.
Position players will report to spring training on the 19th.
