Cleveland Browns Place Franchise On K Phil Dawson

One player has been with the Cleveland Browns since they returned to the NFL in 1999. Phil Dawson will be returning for at least one more season after the Browns placed the franchise tag on the kicker today, meaning Dawson will make upwards of $3 million in 2011.

Dawson battled injuries in 2010, but remains one of the most accurate kickers in the NFL. Dawson made all 28 extra points last season, while converting 23 of 28 field goal opportunities.

The 13-year veteran owns the Browns record for most career field goals, passing Lou Groza last season. He is currently 3rd on the team’s all-time scoring list.
