IN PROGRESS: An Ugly Top Of The First; Sox Lead 2-0

Fausto Carmona faced seven hitters in the top of the first inning, and on the first six batters went to at least a two-strike count. Unfortunately, twice Carmona was able to seal the deal with a K, and four times the Sox won the battle.

Four hits, only one of them hit particularly hard, and the Indians find thenselves trailing Chicago 2-0 as the Tribe prepares to face Mark Buehrle.

Paul Konerko and Carlos Quentin have White Sox RBI, and what is disturbing — besides the early deficit — is that Carmona labored to throw 36 pitches in the inning.

A starter does not last long with innings like that.
