Local Football Product Selected By Jaguars In Round 4

Former Collinwood and Mount Union football standout Cecil Shorts III was taken by the Jacksonville Jaguars in the fourth round of the NFL draft on Saturday afternoon. Shorts joins former Purple Raider receiver Pierre Garcon, of the Colts, as Mount Union alumni in the NFL.

In 2008, Shorts caught 77 passes for 1,484 yards along with 23 touchdowns. His nose for the end zone set an Ohio Athletic Conference record. Shorts also shined in the 2009 NCAA Division III National Title game against UW-Whitewater with 10 passes for 185 yards and two touchdowns. He finished the season with 22 total TD’s; 18 receiving, three on special team returns, and one rushing. He posted 4,705 yards and 63 touchdowns for his career
