Most nights, two lonely runs won’t be enough to win a Major-League game. Other nights, like last night, two runs looks like plenty. Starter Justin Masterson struck out nine Mariners in six-and-a-third innings and the Indian’s bullpen was just as effect. The staff allowed a combined six base hits with 13 strike outs on just a pair of walks.
Thanks to the misfortune of ex-Indian Milton Bradley, the Indians cashed in their only two runs of the night on the left fielder’s error in the fourth inning. Both Shin Soo Choo and Asdrubal Cabrera went 2-for-4 in an otherwise offensively stagnant night.
The Tribe closes out the series, looking for its second straight sweep Sunday at 4:10 pm.
