Browns Invite Former Syracuse Punter Rob Long In For Workout

The Cleveland Borwns need a punter, Rob Long needs a job.  The two will get together some time this week and Long will workout for the Browns, a team in need of a punter after Reggie Hodges was lost for the season Tuesday with a torn achilles tendon in his left foot.

While Long may seem like your prototypical undrafted free agent punter, the former Orangeman is far from that.  We leave it to the folks over at SBNation.com for the rest:

Long, the 2010 Second Team All-Big East punter, left the school as one of, if not the, greatest punter in school history. He was on his way to becoming First Team All-Big East and receiving even more accolades until he found out that he had a tumor in his brain that required surgery. Three weeks following the surgery he joined his fellow Orange in NYC at the Pinstripe Bowl, a game he could not play in. After that, with one miracle completed and his tumor gone, Long set out to make his dream of playing in the NFL come true.

Long had sent videos to all 32 NFL teams looking for work, and it seems as the Browns were the only team to respond - out of need of course.  Long has already overcome long odds to get to this point.  Now he just needs to impress Pat Shurmur and Mike Holmgren
