NBA Postpones Start Of Training Camps, Cancels Preseason Games As Lockout Continues

Due to their inability to make any progress towards a resolution with the Players Association, the NBA has postponed Training Camps and Canceled 43 preseason games.

The NBA owners and players or nowhere near agreement on a new Collective Bargaining Agreement, and as a result, they have had to postpone the beginning of training camp and cancel some 43 preseason games, via SB Nation.com.

"We have regretfully reached the point on the calendar where we are not able to open training camps on time and need to cancel the first week of preseason games," NBA Deputy Commissioner Adam Silver said in a press release. "We will make further decisions as warranted."

I'm still trying to figure out just how I should take this news. Obviously this isn't good for fans of the NBA, but maybe the two sides will start to negotiate a little more cordially now that actual playing time is being missed. On the other hand, it could just be the bad news it sounds like.

The NFL only had to cancel one preseason game due to their lockout earlier this Summer. The NBA has now had to cancel 43 times as many. No matter how I try to spin it, that is not good news.
