You kinda figured it would come to this for Ozzie Guillen. This is what happens when you are a manager and start discussing a contract extension while your team is desperately trying to remain in contention, as happened a few weeks ago with Guillen and the White Sox.
↵Chicago released Guillen on Monday, and as the story via ESPN has it, will reportedly be taking up the reins of the Florida Marlins (who will be renamed the Miami Marlins on November 11).
↵Guillen leaves the Chisox with a record of 678-617 in eight seasons. Included in Guillen's run on the South Side was a World Series title in 2005.
↵The American League Central just won't be the same without him, but never fear, Indians fans, Cleveland will be playing Miami in a three-game series next May 18-20 at Progressive Field. Perhaps Ozzie (if he indeed takes over the Marlins) will bring something colorful to the table that weekend.
