UPDATE: Current And Former NHL Players Among Those Killed In Russian Plane Crash

In a sad update to an earlier story, current Dallas Stars defenseman Karlis Skrastins and left wing Pavol Demitra, formerly of the Vancouver Canucks, plus ex-player and ex-assistant coach of the Red Wings Brad McCrimmon are among those killed in the crash of a Russian plane carrying the Lokomotiv hockey team to what would have been their season-opening game in Minsk.

McCrimmon played for six teams during his career that lasted from 1979 to 1997 and was the current coach of Lokomotiv, while Skrastins played for four teams in a career that began in 1998, including the Columbus Blue Jackets from 2003 to 2008. Demitra's career began in 1993, and the Canucks had been his fifth NHL team. Demitra was the captain of the Slovakian national team.

Again, our condolences to all the organizations, friends and families of everyone involved.
