Nadal, Roddick and Serena Williams All Advance At The U.S. Open

Finally, some tennis was able to be played on Thursday at the U.S. Open in Flushing Meadows, New York, and Serena Williams took advantage to advance to the semi-finals with a 7-5, 6-1 victory over Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova of Russia.

Serena will now take on the winner of the Caroline Wozniacki-Andrea Petkovic match.

Other winners on Thursday thus far have been Rafael Nadal (who defeated Gilles Muller in three sets), Andy Murray (who knocked out upstart Donald Young in straight sets), and Andy Roddick (who pushed aside David Ferrer in four sets).

At present Wozniacki is up on Petkovic, while women's doubles and mixed doubles matches are in progress.
