Flip Saunders Fired As Washington Wizards Coach

Well that didn't take long. After starting the season with a league-worst 2-15 record, Flip Saunders has been fired as head coach of the Washington Wizards, according to Adrian Wojnarowski of Yahoo! Sports.

Saunders, in his third year at the helm of the Wizards, was captain of a rudderless ship. Talented point guard John Wall is shooting just 38 percent. Nick Young, whose contract issues were a distraction in December, is on a one-year deal and has the reputation of a chucker.

JaVale McGee did, well, this. And Andray Blatche...what can really be said about Blatche anymore?

↵

It was clear that Saunders, a graduate of Cuyahoga Heights High School in Cleveland, was not getting through to the players, and the Wizards look to be a team that needs to find a disciplinarian.

For all the Cavs struggles recently, focus and accountability have never been the problem. The team has been receptive to Byron Scott's system, there have been no distractions, and the team plays with a sense of togetherness. It's pretty clear that John Wall or not, Cleveland is in a much better position right now in its rebuild than Washington.
