The Michigan Wolverines and Iowa Hawkeyes are tied atop the Legends division in the Big Ten standings, while the Leaders division is led by two NCAA sanctioned teams: Ohio State and Penn State.
Ohio State leads the Leaders division at 3-0 in conference play with Penn State slightly behind at 2-0 in the conference. However, due to NCAA sanctions, both Ohio State and Penn State are ineligible for postseason play in 2012. Therefore, in the race for the Big Ten championship game, the Wisconsin Badgers lead the division with a 2-1 record. Purdue, Indiana and Illinois trail Wisconsin and are all winless in conference play thus far.
Northwestern and Nebraska sit within striking distance of the Legends division lead. Both Northwestern and Nebraska have only one conference loss, putting them one game out of the top spot. Michigan State and Minnesota share last place, each with two conference losses.
