Since an 18-17 loss to Iowa in their opener, the Northern Illinois Huskies have had very little problem running through their schedule with six straight victories. In each of the wins they've scored at least 30 points, including a 45-3 dismantling of Buffalo in their last game.
While the Huskies enter with a 6-1 record, the Akron Zips enter Saturday with a 1-6 record and a defense that has struggled to keep points off the board. With the exception of a 66-6 beatdown of Morgan State, the Zips have been unable to earn a victory and have given up 41 points or more in four of the six losses.
This adds up to a big line in favor of the Huskies as most expect them to improve to 7-1 and remain undefeated in Mid-American Conference play.
To have any chance at pulling the upset, Akron will have to buckle down on defense and slow NIU's Jordan Lynch. The junior quarterback has racked up 1,487 yards and 11 touchdowns through the air, while also adding 918 yards and 11 touchdowns rushing.
