Cavs reportedly pick up Byron Scott's contract option for 2013-14

The Cleveland Cavaliers have picked up Byron Scott`s option for the 2013-14 season.

The Cleveland Cavaliers have picked up Head Coach Byron Scott's option for the 2013-14 season according to Mary Schmitt Boyer of the Cleveland Plain Dealer.

Scott was hired to replace Mike Brown who was fired after the team lost in the Eastern Conference Semifinals to theBoston Celtics in the 2010 playoffs. The Cavaliers also lost LeBron James to free agency that summer.

Scott went 19-63 in his first season as the Cavailers coach in the 2010-11 and 21-45 last year in his second season for a total mark of 40-108 after two seasons in Cleveland.

This season, the Cavaliers will be led by last year`s rookie of the year Kyrie Irving as well as the fourth overall pick in the 2011 NBA Draft Tristan Thompson and Dion Waiters, who the Cavaliers selected in the 2012 NBA Draft.

In 12 seasons as a head coach in the NBA with New Jersey, New Orleans and Cleveland, Scott has compiled a 392-463 record.
