Bowl projections 2012: Kent State, Ohio among 6 MAC teams set for postseason

Kent State leads a MAC six pack of teams in the latest SB Nation bowl projections.

Sadly, it's the final month of the college football season, with many teams having just two games remaining on their schedule. On the bright side, bowl projections! The college football postseason picture comes into clearer focus each week, and while Ohio State will sit this one out, there will be plenty of MACtion come late December.

This week, the Kent State Golden Flashes appeared in the top 25 of a college football poll for the first time since 1973. The Flashes are 9-1 and first in the loaded MAC East division, where they have two tough remaining games. Right now, Jason Kirk of SB Nation predicts KSU will head west to the Idaho Potato Bowl, where they'd face Utah State. There's still plenty in flux with those two remaining games against Bowling Green and Ohio, so their postseason projection could shift quite a bit in the month of November -- particularly if they make the MAC title game.

As for the Bobcats, Kirk ships them off to BBVA Compass Bowl to play a big boy from the SEC -- Tennessee. That would likely involve an interim coach or lame duck Derek Dooley, and a big spotlight for Ohio to cap a historic season. Toledo is slated for the Little Caesars Bowl against Western Kentucky -- a matchup between two of the top mid-major teams in the country. Bowling Green is projected to play on Dec. 29 in the Armed Forces Bowl against Middle Tennessee State. Those four Ohio schools are part of six total MAC teams making the postseason.
