It was almost a career day for junior forward Deshaun Thomas who tied a career high with 31 points, including 21 in the first half to lead the No. 4 Ohio State Buckeyes past the Washington Huskies 77-66 in the Hall of Fame Tip Off Tournament.
Thomas had an excellent day from the field, shooting 12 of 20 and pulled down a team high eight rebounds. Aaron Craft and Evan Ravenel also finished in double digits with 18 and 12 points respectively. The Buckeyes only turned the ball over seven times in the game.
C.J. Wilcox led the way for the Huskies with 18 points. Abdul Gaddy chipped in 15 of his own while Scott Suggs finished with 11 points. Aziz N'Diaye had a game high 11 rebounds for Washington.
Ohio State led by as much as 17 points in the second half before the Huskies cut the lead as close as seven when the Buckeyes held a 57-50 lead. Ohio State and Washington have played each other 12 times over their respective histories but this was the first game since 1972.
