The No. 5 Miami (OH) men's hockey team has pushed out to an impressive 7-2-3 start in 2012, but they get a chance to rest and recover this weekend. The Redhawks are coming off a 2-0-2 stretch that helped them keep pace with No. 4 Minnesota. The Ohio State Buckeyes are the only local team in action this weekend, and they will travel to Sault Ste. Marie, Mich., to face the Lake Superior Lakers.
The Buckeyes have won two straight contests and they recently received nine votes in the USCHO.com Division I Men's Poll, and voters will expect a strong performance this weekend against a Lake Superior team that is just 6-6-0 on the year.
In other local action, Bowling Green dropped their third-straight game on Wednesday night against Michigan, which brings their overall record in 2012 to a disappointing 2-9-3 mark.
Miami could move up in the polls if Minnesota drops either of its weekend games against an unranked Vermont club.
Here is the schedule for this weekend:
Friday, Nov. 23, 2012
7:35 p.m. ET Ohio State at Lake Superior
Saturday, Nov. 24, 2012
7:05 p.m. ET Ohio State at Lake Superior
