NBA scores: Cavaliers clipped by Magic, 108-104

The Cavs lost a close one to the Magic on Friday, 108-104, and now sit just a half-game out of last place in the Central Division.

The Cavaliers lost 108-104 to the Magic on Friday in a frantic contest that saw eight lead changes in the fourth quarter.

Rookie Dion Waiters led the Cavs with 25 points on 9-of-22 shooting and chipped in five assists. Anderson Varejao scored 19 points and hauled in 17 rebounds, including 11 offensive boards. Jeremy Pargo, filling in at point guard with Kyrie Irving sidelined with a broken finger, scored 15 points but only tallied one assist.

The Magic made 11 three-pointers and were led in scoring by Jameer Nelson with 22 points. Glen Davis chipped in 16 points and eight rebounds while J.J. Redick put the game away with eight-straight made free throws in the final 22 seconds.

The loss dropped the Cavs to 3-9 and fourth in the Central Division, a half-game ahead of the last-place Pistons, who squeaked by the Raptors on Friday, 91-90. The third-place Pacers lost to the Spurs on Friday, 104-97.

Elsewhere in the NBA, the the Rockets stomped the Knicks, 131-103, and the Celtics took out the Thunder, 108-100. The Nets defeated the Clippers, 86-76, and the Grizzlies took out the Lakers, 106-98.
