2012 MAC Football Standings: Kent State, Northern Illinois remain undefeated in league play

The Golden Flashes currently sit at 5-0 in the MAC East with just three regular season games remaining on their schedule.

Andrew Weber-US PRESSWIRE

Despite falling into an early 14-0 hole, the Kent State Golden Flashes used an impressive 35-24 comeback win over Akron on Saturday to remain undefeated in Mid-American Conference action through 10 weeks.

The Golden Flashes are still one of three teams without a blemish in league play, as both Toledo and Northern Illinois currently have yet to be topped in a MAC game. While Toledo was afforded an extended rest period through the weekend in preparation for their Tuesday, Nov. 6 game against Ball State, Northern Illinois wasted little time rolling through a woeful Massachusetts team, 63-0, to keep its undefeated record alive.

Currently atop the MAC East by one game, the Golden Flashes will be tested over the conclusion of their 2012 campaign with both Bowling Green and Ohio left to play. Both schools sit in a tie for second at 4-1 overall in the conference, and remain well within striking distance.
