After its near-miss loss in the MAC Championship Game to Northern Illinois, the Kent State Golden Flashes (11-2) could be headed for the GoDaddy.com Bowl in Mobile, Ala., on Jan. 6, according to SB Nation's bowl projections.
According to the projections, Kent State would face the Arkansas State Red Wolves (9-3). Arkansas State won the Sun Belt championship Saturday by beating Middle Tennessee, 45-0. The team has won seven straight games and scored 30 or more points in 10 of 12 games this season. Arkansas State had two high-profile losses this season, losing to Oregon and Nebraska.
Kent State is coming off a double-overtime loss in the MAC Championship Game Saturday. The Golden Flashes had won 10 straight games heading into that game, including a win over Rutgers, ranked No. 15 in the country. Kent State was ranked No. 17 prior to the Northern Illinois loss.
If Kent State would've won the MAC championship, the team would've likely played in the Little Caesars Bowl in Detroit, although they would've still been alive for a BCS Bowl berth as well.
