The Miami (OH) RedHawks men's hockey team don't play another game until Dec. 28, but they should be excited that they've earned the No. 5 ranking in the latest USCHO poll. Miami has posted an impressive 8-3-3 conference record, along with a sterling home mark (6-1-3) and a very respectable road record ((5-2-1).
The RedHawks wrapped up the first half of their season by going 2-1-1 in their last four contests, and their schedule looks light when games resume at the end of December. Miami will face off against a string of unranked opponents in what might be the best opportunity for the team to jump into the top three. If they can stack some wins, they will be in a good position to catch up with No. 4 Minnesota, No. 3 Notre Dame, No. 2 New Hampshire and No. 1 Boston College.
