The Ohio Bobcats were far too much for the Louisiana-Monroe Warhawks in the 2012 Independence Bowl on Friday, dominating in a 45-14 victory.
Leading the way for Ohio was running back Beau Blankenship with an Independence Bowl-record four rushing touchdowns against the ULM defense, accumulating 103 yards rushing on only 19 carries. Also moving the ball quickly down the field was quarterback Tyler Tettleton with 332 yards passing, two touchdowns and one interception despite only 21 pass attempts.
Warhawks quarterback Kolton Browning struggled in the game, throwing three interceptions as he was pressured consistently and sacked five times by the Bobcats defense. Tremayne Scott of Ohio dominated with two sacks and an interception.
Ohio started the 2012 season with seven consecutive victories, but lost each of their last three games of the season by double digits. Following the victory, the Bobcats finish with a 9-4 record. The Warhawks entered with an 8-4 record as well, but fell to 8-5.
