Philadelphia Eagles Plan to Use Franchise Tag on Wide Receiver DeSean Jackson

According to ESPN, the Philadelphia Eagles plan to use their franchise tag on wide receiver DeSean Jackson. Jackson had a horrible 2011 season after complaining about the state of his contract situation, even holding out through much of the offseason, or whatever was left of it after the lockout.

Jackson was a potential target for the Cleveland Browns at wide receiver in free agency, as are all big play guys on the open market. He will now be getting paid a lot of money guaranteed while the Eagles try to work out a long-term extension, which is obviously something they are still interested in even after Jackson’s antics this past year.
