Ohio State and Cincinnati are facing off in the Sweet Sixteen in a battle between two in-state, out-of-conference rivals and the Buckeyes are off to a very good start.
Led by a white hot Deshaun Thomas, the Buckeyes have opened up a 37-25 lead over the Bearcats.
Thomas is 8-12 shooting and 3-for-5 from beyond the arc, finishing the first half with 20 of Ohio State’s 37 points. He’s not the only one getting it done for the Buckeyes, though.
Big man Jared Sullinger has 10 points on 3-of-6 shooting and he already has nine rebounds.
Ohio State isn’t dominating on the glass, by any means, but they only have four turnovers compared to nine for the Bearcats, who are led in scoring by forward Justin Jackson, who has eight points, five rebounds, and three blocks off the bench.
Guard Cashmere Wright has added seven points for Cincinnati which is shooting under 39 percent from the field and less than 30 percent from three-point range. Ohio State is really shooting lights out from beyond the arc at 40 percent and over 45 percent from the floor.
